The TIP122 is an NPN Darlington bipolar power transistor in a TO-220 package, rated at 100 V collector-emitter and 5 A continuous collector current. Its high DC gain allows a microcontroller pin with a base resistor to switch motors, relays, lamps, and solenoids. Heat dissipation needs checking because the Darlington structure has a relatively high saturation-voltage drop.
