The L293D is a quadruple half-H driver that forms two bidirectional channels for driving two DC motors or one bipolar stepper motor. It works from a 4.5 to 36 V motor supply, delivers up to 600 mA continuous per channel, and includes clamp diodes to absorb inductive transients. Enable pins allow PWM speed control directly from a microcontroller.
