The 1N4007 is a general-purpose silicon rectifier from the 1N400x family, rated for 1 A average rectified current and 1000 V repetitive peak reverse voltage under datasheet conditions. It is used in half-wave and bridge rectifiers, for reverse-polarity protection, and as a flyback diode across relay coils. As a standard recovery part it suits low-frequency rectification rather than fast switching.
